If you have been hanging out around here for a little bit then you know that last week I finished my second 3 Day Refresh. I completed my first on in March of 2016 and got some really great results.
I have had a rough time making a clean break from the not so great eating habits that the holidays left me with and I was ready to try out a second round. If you are wondering what a 3 Day refresh is and why I’m doing one click HERE. I give all of the details about the 3 days and even post a copy of my 3 day meal plan!
Here were my goals going into these 3 days:
- break some bad habits
- lose some bloat associated with those habits.
- maybe lose a few pounds
I got every thing ready meal plan complete, meal prep done and my frig stocked and ready to go with about 90% of what I would need. Check this video out to see how I got set up for three days so that I would have everything I needed at my fingertips.
Having all of the food that I possibly could be prepped and ready to go proved to be a great choice. I planned to keep moving for the three days instead of my only plan to be to sit in the house and focus on a detox I signed up for lol! I would just pack up everything that I would need before lunch and I would be set. I didnt prep my dinners because I did the cooked recipes and I wanted them to be fresh.
There are two recipes that I used day 2 AND day 3 because I loved them so much!
The Vanilla Refresh is good but its a little sweet. I know coming from me? So the first is the little bitty something that I added to my Vanilla Refresh. The BEST PART?? Its on the Guilt Free Flavorings list. So lets start with the basic recipe and then I will add the secret ingredient.
- 8 oz of water
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 dash of Himalayan Sea salt (SECRET INGREDIENT!)
- 1/2 cup ice
- Shake or Blend (your preference )
** the sea salt cuts just enough of the sweetness **
Lemony Green Beans
6 oz. green beans, ends trimmed
1/2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp lemon zest
sea salt to taste (optional)
Place the green beans and water in a medium saucepan over high heat.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to maintain a gentle boil
Cook, covered for 3-4 minutes (until tender/crisp)
Combine green beans, oil, lemon juice, and zest in a small bowl and mix well.
Sprinkle with salt
Here is compilation for some quick daily journal videos I did so that my review is legit. I didnt want to say “oh yeah I totally wasnt hungry” when secretly I was starving for 3 days. Or like “oh yeah totally not eating with my family was a breeze!” when in reality my hubby bought a pizza and I begrudgingly ate my cucumbers.
I did decided to really go for it and drink my coffee black at the direction of the instructions, that wasn’t wonderful so out of desperation I decided to try Stevia. Although this started out as an act of desperation guess what? I liked it. Like I mean Im currently still putting it in my coffee, my husband likes it and we arent buying Splenda anymore. I never expected this to be something that I was able to chance, I had tried Stevia before. I did as before and tasted it out of the pack and it is horrible!! I decided to be brave and try if in my coffee and it was great!
The meal prep, Stevia and the two recipes are really what I wanted to share with you this time. They are the things that I did differently compared to last March.
