My first fall inspired recipe isn’t pumpkin… your welcome but dont get too comfy cause they are coming!
We love apples in our house. We go through 2 bags of apples a week between my husband, my son (3.5) my daughter (13mo) and myself. There is something about a good crisp, sweet apple that is so yummy and add a little peanut butter and you are set!
When I saw this recipe for Apple Crisp I knew that i would be making this ASAP! Today was the perfect day for it. I got up, made my coffee and got the kids their chocolate milk and decided that this was as good a time as any for an Apple Crisp.
I knew already that this would be a huge hit with my husband and myself. Charleston was pretty much a sure bet but Aiden is always our wild card for new textures and bakes apples are typically not his style!
So lets get started
4 cups peeled, sliced apples
3 Tbsp. pure maple syrup, divided use
1 tsp. ground cinnamon, divided use ( i used 2 tsp divided)
½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats (use gluten-free oats if desired) ( i used quick oats because it was all i had)
¼ cup finely chopped raw walnuts (I used pecans
1. Preheat oven to 375° F. (I baked mine in a regular sized cast iron skillet)
2. Combine apples, 2 Tbsp. maple syrup, and ½ tsp. cinnamon in a medium baking dish; mix well. Set aside.
3. Combine oats, walnuts, remaining 1 Tbsp. maple syrup, and remaining ½ tsp.cinnamon in a medium bowl; mix well.
4. Top apple mixture with oat mixture. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until apples are soft.

Yummy!! Im so glad that I found this recipe on Team Beachbody Blog. Next time I plan on using blueberries instead of apple to see how that would taste. Charleston and I love a blueberry. If you have been looking for a great Blueberry Muffin recipe click HERE and check out my Blueberry Maple Muffins. These were great and make a great freezer meal for Grab and Go ideas!
We topped ours with a little cool whip with cinnamon. This would also be a great addition to some yogurt!! Even half of the serving would be plenty for a addition to your yogurt, although its so good i would probably stick with the whole. This Apple Crisp is a great breakfast or dessert that ill be a staple around here and you dont even count it as a treat!
I hope that you enjoy and if you try the crisp and enjoy it, make sure to let me know. I look forward to hear from you.
