I feel like the world has been keeping a secret! A secret that we have the RIGHT to know. This secret can change our lives. It can open our eyes. It can it can trim our waists!!!!
What is this secret you ask?? SPAGHETTI SQUASH!!!
Spaghetti squash is: Easy to make. Cheap. Fits in multiple recipes and meals. Last but not least YUMMY!
It has the texture or pasta, the nice bite of al dente pasta and did I mention EASY TO MAKE?
This is how I prepare mine. Cut the squash in half. Lay it face (flat side ) down in a 9×13 dish with a couple inches of water and cover it with aluminium foil. Pop it into an oven pre-heated oven at 400 degrees for about 40 or 45 minutes. You want to watch it and check it around 35 minutes. If you can pierce through the flesh with a fork IT’S DONE!
From here, pull it out of the oven and let it cool, and then with a spoon scoop out the seeds and …guts? I don’t know what its called but its what my 3 year old calls that stuff. Then with a fork shred out the squash and it will come out like noodles.
You can use think ANYWHERE that you would use pasta. Really! Its so good! Not to mention no dreaded pasta carbs or pasta bloat or that heavy pasta feeling after!
This is my FAVORITE thing to do with it though:
Italian Sausage Not Spaghetti
- 1 spaghetti squash (cooked)
- marinara sauce
- desired protein ( I used sweet italian sausage)
- set squash to cook (see above directions)
- brown and drain protein
- add sauce to meat and lower to a simmer
Im really excited about trying new spaghetti squash recipes! I would eat it every but my husband doesnt quite feel the same way! LOL!
